Title Slide: A Change for The Constitution | With Attorney Lane Fitzgerald
Question: What one change would you make to The Constitution?
I would make it more detailed. Right now you have a very simple and very, allegedly, easy-to-follow quips and statements within there and I think that had I drafted The Constitution today it would be 400 pages, if you will. It would, in essence, define everything and every word and all that type of stuff.
While, obviously, the Founders probably didn’t presume that The Constitution would be so reviewed and looked after as it is today and interpreted as it is. I think that would be the one thing I would change. I don’t think I would change or eliminate any of The Bill of Rights or any of The Amendments thereafter, but I think that The Constitution, in and of itself, if it were more detailed it would probably save us a lot of strife today. But, I doubt that the Founding Fathers were real concerned about my practice 200 years ago.
