Title Slide: Attorney Lane Fitzgerald On His Career, Past and Present
Attorney Lane Fitzgerald: I actually wanted to be an attorney, it’s very strange. Everyone that I kind of run in to now – I moved away for ten years when I joined the military, I didn’t come back for about ten years. I was kind of doing the military and college thing, so I kind of stayed away for a little while. So now that I’ve come back, everyone that I run into is saying how they remember me talking about wanting to be attorney when I was younger.
A lot of my neighbors and life long family friends, if you will, remember me talking about wanting to be an attorney when I was 7 and 8. It’s kind of bizarre to me, I don’t remember that. I think that’s odd for a 7 or 8 year old to want to be an attorney. I think that would be like an astronaut or something like that. But, an attorney, I guess I’ve wanted to be that for quite some time, so I guess it turned out the way that it should have.
If I weren’t a criminal defense attorney, I’d probably be on the other side. I’d probably be a police officer, an FBI agent, something like that. I’d probably be on the other side of the coin. Now that I have this mindset, you know I was in the military and all that particular stuff, it’s just the criminal justice system. I feel like it’s engrained in my DNA at this point, which is terrible to say and it’s cheesy, but the thing is I can’t see myself being outside of the particular system that I’m in right now. So, if I weren’t here I’d probably be an FBI agent, in all reality.
